Good Reads for the Week: 10/29/2011

I’m posting this week’s Good Reads compilation because I’m not going to be around tomorrow and didn’t want to leave you hanging. It’s an awesome list, so you won’t be disappointed. Before I get into it, I just want to remind you to please sign up for my newsletter to the right. I haven’t done enough with it up until this point, so that’s my fault, but I’ve figured it out and want to start taking steps to build a fun community here. With that out of the way, let’s begin. Here are some posts you may have missed. Deload [...]

Deload Week and Training Highlights

After my workout on Monday I decided it was time to take a week off from training. I love training, so it always kills me to take time away from it, but I have come to learn that it’s absolutely vital to my long-term success, both in terms of strength and in terms of staying healthy. In place of training, I’ve been trying to catch up on some sleep and some other stuff I need to get done, and I must say I feel great. I’ll continue in this fashion for the rest of the week and then get back [...]

Random Thoughts: Help Wanted, Squats, and Can’t-Miss Deals

It’s been awhile since I’ve done a Random Thoughts posts, but I am in one of those moods. Before you read this though, make sure to check out yesterday’s For Your Viewing Pleasure post—one of the best in a long time. Here it goes. 1. Any site suggestions? Ok, so it’s been just over a month since I launched the new site. Overall, I really like it, and it seems like things are running smoothly. As is to be expected though, there are a few small glitches, and I am working to get those figured out. I am planning on [...]

For Your Viewing Pleasure: Take 54

Ok I’ve got a great compilation of training videos from the past week, but before we go there, a few brief announcements. 1. Don’t forget to check out yesterday’s interview with Eric Cressey. He has a sale on his popular Show and Go program that lasts until Friday, so I would strongly consider taking advantage of that. It is 50% off, so now is the time to buy if you’re at all interested because after Friday it will get pricey. Right now, it’s a steal. You can get all the info here. 2. My friend Kevin Neeld released a new [...]

Interview with Eric Cressey

I have a very cool interview for you today with Eric Cressey. Eric is someone that I really look up to and have a ton of respect for in the fitness industry. He is tremendously bright, and his reputation speaks for itself. I’m lucky to live close to Cressey Performance so I’ve been able to visit from time to time and pick his brain, and he’s been a tremendous help to me in numerous ways. Last year when I tweaked my shoulder, he checked it out and gave me some great tips to help rehab it quickly. I’ve learned a [...]

Good Reads for the Week: 10/22/2011

Well, I’m posting this a little earlier than normal, but for good reason. As I mentioned about a month ago, the hard drive on my old computer crashed, and I’ve been borrowing an old computer (that doesn’t work very well, by the way) for the past few weeks while I wait for a new one I ordered to arrive. Well, after waiting an entire month and dealing with a bunch of crap from the manufacturer, I said screw it and went to Best Buy and bought a new one this afternoon. They are getting it ready and I’ll pick it [...]

Front Squats Made Easier, and Girls Gone Strong

On Wednesday I had a new article on T-Nation go up called “Front Squats Made Easier” where I discuss why I like the front squat so much and give you five easy-to-use ways to improve your technique to be safer and more comfortable. I’ve gotten a positive response so far, which is always nice. Please check out the article and let me know what you think in the comments below. Click here for the article […]

For Your Viewing/Learning Pleasure: Part Deux

I hope everyone is having a good week. Things here are going great. I have a few announcements I want to share soon, as well as an overdue training update, but I just don’t have the time today. I did want to share something quickly though that I think you’ll like. As a quick follow-up to this week’s For Your Viewing Pleasure post (check it out if you haven’t already), I wanted to let you know about some cool videos/webinars that Eric Cressey has just released. I watched two of them on Tuesday and they were great, and the third [...]

For Your Viewing Pleasure: Take 53

I’m running out the door, but I couldn’t do so without first giving you this week’s For Your Viewing Pleasure. I think you’re going to love it. 20 videos of pure training awesomeness—enjoy! This should you supply you with all the motivation and learning you need for today. If not, and you’re still begging for more, don’t forget to also check out this week’s Good Reads for lots of great articles. […]

Good Reads for the Week: 10/16/2011

It’s hard to believe that another whole week is in the books since the last time I posted some Good Reads, but unless my calendar is playing tricks me, it has. No worries, I’ve got another great list for this time, so you won’t be disappointed. Speaking of good reads, I had something cool happen to me yesterday. One of my personal training clients came in for our session with a magazine in hand. She is an avid fitness reader and often brings in things for me to check out, so I didn’t think much of it at first, but [...]
