Good Reads for the Week

Anyone Sunday is in the books, which means it's time for another edition of Good Reads. Sunday is one of those odd days because some people consider it the last day of the week, while most calendars consider it the start of the new week. Depending on how you look at it, this can either be a good way to cap off the week or a way to kickstart the new week with a bang. Either way, it's a great list.I get most of these articles from Facebook and Twitter, so if you are not already following me on Twitter, [...]

For Your Viewing Pleasure: Take 22

Well the week is more than halfway done and I feel like it just started. Really, where does the time go? It’s been a good week, but a busy week. Don’t fret though; I’m not about to leave you hanging. I’ve still managed to put together quite an awesome compilation of videos from the last week. So sit back, relax, and enjoy the show. As usual, I did not post any of my own videos, but please be sure to subscribe to my You Tube channel to check out my new videos as they come up. I just posted one [...]

Midweek Check-In and Training Update (with Video)

This has been a particularly busy week for me with work so I haven’t had a whole time of time for writing, but I did want to take a quick minute to check in. As I mentioned last week, I completed an eight week training cycle two weeks ago that ended in me reaching most of the goals I had set for myself. Those goals included rear foot elevated split squats, walking lunges, glute-ham raises, and chin-ups. I fell short of my goals, however, with 1-arm dumbell bench presses and dumbell snatch. Normally I’d be a little annoyed at falling [...]

Good Reads for the Week

Another Sunday is in the books, which means another great edition of Good Reads. I've got a whole bunch (over 65) awesome articles from the past week compiled together, so rather than waste your time blabbering on and on I'll get right to it.Actually, not quite. Before we get to the list, I want to remind you again to please vote for Peak Performance as the best gym in New York City. Even if you have already voted, vote again. You are allowed to vote once a day, and every vote counts. It literally takes 20 seconds (ok maybe 23 [...]

For Your Viewing Pleasure: Take 21

I normally make this post on either Thursday night or Friday, but I am not going to be around then and I wanted to get something up before the weekend. Plus, I think if I waited any longer, the list would just be too long and some great videos would get lost in the shuffle. As it stands, I think this is already the biggest list of videos I have ever put together. If not, it’s certainly close. I spent quite a bit of time putting it together so I hope you enjoy it.Before I get to the list, I [...]

Exercise of the Week: “1.5” Chinups

Happy March everybody! I can't believe we're already two months deep into 2011. Today’s Exercise of the Week is not so much an exercise as it is a rep technique that can be applied to a number of different exercises. I am talking about “1.5” reps. The concept is simple. One rep equals one full plus a half rep (like you couldn’t have figured that out from the name). This is certainly not my idea by any means, and I not quite sure where it originated. What I do know, however, is that is can work really well for certain [...]
