Experience What It’s Like to Be at Mike Boyle Strength and Conditioning

Whether at conferences or via online messages, I’m frequently asked what it’s like working under Mike Boyle as Mike Boyle Strength and Conditioning. Truth is, as a new strength coach, I really couldn’t ask for a better learning experience. We deal with hundreds of athletes each day of all ages and abilities, and we are privy to a bunch of awesome educational opportunities on a regular basis. For example, we have two staff meetings a week where Mike speaks on various topics related to strength and conditioning, coaching, or whatever else is on the agenda for that day. Other times he will bring in other experts to speak to us about their individual specialties. In the past year, we’ve had Sue Falsone, Charlie Weingroff, Nick Tumminello, Dan John, Kelly Starret, Neghar Fonooni, Joe Sansalone…just to name a few. This sort of stuff happens so often that it’s easy to start taking it for granted, but when I step back and really think about, it’s pretty freakin cool. It’s like a weekly series of seminars, just for us.

Well, not exactly us alone. We also film the staff meetings and in-service presentations and post them on Body By Boyle Online for members to see. I recently took some time to peruse the site, and I was shocked how much content it has. Literally every staff meeting and presentation is on there, so you can see exactly what the staff sees and learn what we learn. Moreover, the site contains all of our programs, so you can see exactly what we’re doing with our athletes, and if you have any questions about any of the exercises or drills, there is an extensive video database to show you how to do them correctly. If that wasn’t enough, you can watch Mike’s DVD’s, and if you have any questions about anything, you can ask them and Mike will provide video responses. I was shocked how comprehensive the site is. It holds nothing back. It’s basically like being part of MBSC from the comforts of your own home. Whether you are an up and coming strength coach or trainer looking to improve, or just someone looking to learn about working out and getting in shape, I think you’d be well-advised to check this out and give it a try.
