For Your Viewing Pleasure: Take 41
I’ve got a great compilation of training videos from the past week. Before we get to it though, make sure you check out yesterday’s post with a cool exercise to work your back side.
Ok, now let’s get started. We’ve got a great lineup as usual, so getcha popcorn ready!
Paused 1 Leg Squats. Pausing the reps makes this exercise significantly harder by killing the stretch reflex and forcing you to control the eccentric a bit more to avoid bouncing out of the bottom. I’ve done pauses before, but I increased the length of the pause slightly this time and noticed quite a difference.
Some sweet footage from the 2011Bronx Freestyle Calisthenics Tournament. This is honestly one of the coolest things I have ever watched. I would have loved to be there watching this live.
Nia Shanks pulls a 325 pound sumo deadlift. Bigtime strength here.
Jen Comas Keck deadlifts 250 lbs for 4 reps and then follows it up with some cool accessory work. Awesome!
Marianne Kane knocks out some awesome dips. This is a great display of relative body strength right here.
Kevin Carr does a rack carry and sled drag combo. This looks brutal. Great idea from Kevin, and great strength too.
Michael Keck does some heavy squats in preparation for his upcoming powerlifting meet. One thing I notice about Mike is that he always squats deep. Very nice.
Elsbeth Vaino shows a metabolic circuit using the TRX. Lots of good stuff going on in this circuit. I got tired just watching it.
Molly Galbraith does some high box squats with chains. Great stuff from Molly, as usual.
Kevin Carr does bottoms up carries. If you’ve never tried holding a kettlebell bottoms up, you’re in for a treat. It’s a bear. Kevin makes it look way easier than it is.
Marianne Kane does 300 lb. glute bridges. Now that’s one strong booty.
Chase Karnes does a 600 lb. yoke walk, over 3 times his own bodyweight. Yikes!
Jason Ferruggia shows a client doing side to side battling ropes. I never really appreciated how hard some of this rope stuff is until I started doing it. Much harder than it looks. This could be a cool finisher for a workout.
Neghar Fonooni shows her client doing an awesome Turkish getup with 16kg. Great form with heavy weight…nice.
Dean Somerset shows a side plank with leg raise. Let’s face it: side planks are great, but once you get to a certain level they get pretty boring. Here is one way to progress it to spice things up.
Ok, that’ll do it for this week. Hope you enjoyed it. Please pass it along for others to enjoy too.
